Transaction & Handover Policy
Fylo does not hold, process, or guarantee any purchase funds. Read this before reserving or paying.
1. Listing states
Available — open to reservation.
Reserved — Handover pending — a reservation has been made; the item can't be reserved again until it's released or completed.
Sold — completed; kept in Fylo's records but removed from normal browsing.
Withdrawn — no longer for sale.
Under review — not yet public, pending Fylo's review.
An item automatically becomes Reserved once a valid reservation for it is recorded and can return to Available if that reservation is cancelled or lapses.
2. Making a reservation — including multiple items
You can reserve a single item or submit one reservation covering several items — possibly from different sellers, and possibly in different cities — by providing your contact and handover information once. Where you see a combined figure like "Total value of reserved items," this is shown for your convenience only. It is not an amount you pay to Fylo, not a single combined seller payment, and not a checkout total — each item is still its own separate handover and its own separate direct payment to its own seller.
3. Multiple cities
If your reservation includes items in more than one city, you'll see a notice explaining that: there will be separate handovers in each location; each seller is paid directly for their own item; and you, or someone you personally trust, will need to be able to complete each handover. You'll need to actively acknowledge this before the reservation goes ahead. Fylo does not arrange transport or courier services between cities as part of this process.
4. Reservation period, no-shows, and cancellation
A reservation holds an item for 7 calendar days. If a buyer doesn't progress the transaction within that time, Fylo may release the item back to Available. Sellers must keep a reserved item available for the reserving buyer during that period and must not sell it elsewhere in the meantime — doing so breaches our policies. Either party may cancel before handover; repeated no-shows or cancellations by either side may lead to Fylo declining to process further reservations linked to that person's details. Fylo may release or cancel a reservation at its discretion, including for suspected abuse.
5. Arranging handover and inspecting
Buyer and seller arrange handover directly using the contact details shared for that transaction. The buyer should inspect the item — checking it against the listing, photos, and disclosed condition — before paying and may decline the transaction if it materially differs.
6. Payment
Fylo does not process the purchase price. The buyer pays each seller directly. A payment screenshot is not proof funds have cleared — sellers must check their own bank before handing over the item. Cash is discouraged where a safer method is reasonably available. Fylo cannot reverse a direct payment and cannot guarantee recovery of money paid to another user.
7. Seller handover confirmation
Once the seller has verified cleared funds and handed the item over, Fylo emails them a secure, single-use, time-limited link for that specific item. The seller reviews a reminder screen and then selects "Confirm handover complete." This records the seller's confirmation and its time against that item, updating it to Sold. There is currently no matching buyer-side confirmation step — if a buyer disputes that a handover happened as described, see our Complaints, Disputes & Reporting Policy. A seller's confirmation is a record of what the seller has told Fylo, not proof that no dispute can later arise.
8. If something goes wrong
Report it as soon as possible under our Complaints, Disputes & Reporting Policy.
9. Future services
Couriers, delivery, drop points, or payment-related services aren't part of the current process and aren't promised by this policy.
